BREEAM

BREEAM accredited developmentThe ecologists at Oatlands Ecology are experienced BREEAM ecologists and meet the requirements of a "Suitably Qualified Ecologist" as defined by BRE.

We can provide simple, efficient recommendations and advice to maximise credits under the Landuse and Ecology category helping to ensure a high BREEAM rating.

The Government’s drive towards sustainability has led to a requirement for developers to decrease environmental impacts whilst improving the environmental performance of all new developments making these improvements available when the building is sold or leased.

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is the most widely used and recognized environmental assessment method for buildings. It is the industry standard for sustainable design and the measure used to determine a building's environmental performance.
BREEAM credits are awarded for performance in 10 areas: Management, Health and Wellbeing, Energy, Transport, Water, Materials, Waste, Landuse and Ecology, Pollution and Innovation.
The credits are added to produce an overall score and BREEAM rating: Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent or Outstanding.

The Land Use and Ecology Category accounts for almost 10% of the total credits available within a BREEAM Assessment and, with a high BREEAM rating a condition of many planning permissions an Ecological Assessment that meets the BREEAM criteria is a vital part of many new developments.
