Ecological Assessment Reports

surveying a watercourseOatlands Ecology can carry out the appropriate Ecological Assessments for a wide range of projects from “Simple Assessments” that end at the Preliminary Ecological Appraisal to “Detailed Assessments “ that require detailed field surveys and form part of an Ecological Impact Assessment process.

A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal is the basic starting point for determining the ecological implications of a proposed development. The scope of the Ecological Assessment will also vary with each project and, depending on the scheme, may become more detailed as the scheme develops and further ecologically targeted surveys such as Botanical Surveys or Protected Species Surveys may be undertaken.

Depending on the level of assessment the Ecological Assessment Report will identify:
• The ecological value of a site and its features
• The magnitude and significance of any impacts
• Mitigation measures
• Residual impacts
